บันไดหนีไฟ เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของเส้นทางหนีไฟในอาคาร ที่มีกฎหมายอาคารออกข้อบังคับต่าง ๆ ให้ผู้ออกแบบยึดเป็นแนวทางในการออกแบบอาคาร เพื่อความปลอดภัยของผู้ใช้สอยอาคาร กฎหมายอาคารที่ควบคุมรายละเอียดของบันไดหนีไฟ รวมถึงมาตรฐานการออกแบบที่เกี่ยวข้องกับบันไดหนีไฟ มีดังต่อไปนี้ กฎกระทรวงฉบับที่ 33 (ใช้สำหรับอาคารขนาดใหญ่พิเศษและอาคารสูง) กฎกระทรวงฉบับที่ 55 (ใช้สำหรับอาคารสูงไม่เกิน 23 เมตร) ข้อบัญญัติกรุงเทพมหานคร เรื่องควบคุมอาคารปี พ.ศ. 2544 ประกาศกรุงเทพมหานคร เรื่อง ข้อกำหนดลักษณะแบบของบันไดหนีไฟ และทางหนีไฟทางอากาศของอาคาร พ.ศ. 2531 กฎกระทรวง กำหนดสิ่งอำนวยความสะดวกในอาคารสำหรับผู้พิการหรือทุพพลภาพ และคนชรา พ.ศ. 2548 ระเบียบคณะกรรมการฟื้นฟูสมรรถภาพคนพิการ ว่าด้วยมาตรฐานอุปกรณ์หรือสิ่งอำนวยความสะดวกโดยตรงแก่คนพิการ พ.ศ. 2544 จากข้างต้นจะเห็นได้ว่ามีกฎหมายหลายฉบับที่ใช้ควบคุมอาคารในส่วนของบันไดหนีไฟ และเนื่องจากการที่มีการออกกฎหมายออกมาหลายฉบับนี่เอง จึงทำให้เกิดความซ้ำซ้อน และยึดโยงในส่วนข้อกำหนดของกฎหมาย หากจะแบ่งขนาดของอาคารเพื่อให้ง่ายต่อการออกแบบ อาจแบ่งการออกแบบบันไดหนีไฟ ออกเป็นสองประเภทตามกฎหมายควบคุมอาคารดังนี้ บันไดหนีไฟสำหรับอาคารสูงไม่เกิน 23 เมตร บันไดหนีไฟสำหรับอาคาร องค์ประกอบที่สำคัญ ที่จะต้องจัดเตรียมสำหรับบันไดหนีไฟ เพื่อให้อาคารถูกต้องและเกิดความปลอดภัย สอดคล้องกับกฎหมายควบคุมอาคาร รองรับความต้องการของผู้พิการ อาจกำหนดได้ดังนี้ …
